A magnetron is a tube that produces microwaves. It has been invented by two scientists during the World War II. These magnetrons were combined with Britain’s radar systems which allowed them to locate the Nazi warplanes on the British sky.
Several years after the world was finished, Percy LeBaron Spencer revealed that microwaves can be used for cooking the food. He discovered that radar waves can melt a candy bar in his pocket. Soon the first microwave oven was ready to go on the market. It was called the Radar Range and was big and heavy as a refrigerator.

- Search for Health conducted a study in 1992 and studied the effects in subjects that ate vegetables cooked in the microwave oven. They experienced the following effects:
- Rapid increase in the cholesterol levels
- Reduced hemoglobin levels which resulted with conditions similar to anemia
- Reduced white blood cells levels
- Raised leukocyte levels (alerting poisoning and cell damage)
- Up to 96% of the antibodies contained in breast milk are lost while microwaving.
- Microwaved infant formulas’ structure is changed, altering the content in amino acids, causing immunological anomalies.
You should also know that you are exposed to dangerous levels of electromagnetic fields even if your microwave oven is new and perfectly sealed. EMF is able to penetrate in the human body easily (the fact that they are used for x-ray machines confirms that) and they can be the reason for many severe health issues.
EPA advises limited exposure to EMF which ranges from 5mG to 2.5mG. In case the distance between you and the cooking microwave is 4 inches than you are exposed to 100-500mG. If you are 3 feet away from the working microwave then you will be exposed to 1-25mG.
We all know that the microwave can speed up the things around but the bitter truth is that we lose too much nutrients from our food and more important, our family is exposed to the harmful effects of this device.
